Our Core Values

These are our core values - the things that make us tick.

Our Company Mission

We leverage the power of digital products to foster creativity and reward curiosity in our customers and ourselves.

Our Values

We Are Customer-Led ( #customerled )

We come to work to build products that make our customers' lives better, we don't come to stroke our own egos. We strive to be customer-led and treat every interaction with our customers as an opportunity to learn and improve. Our development priorities are based on customer feedback and requests. If we screw up, our customers will usually hear about it from us before they've realised anything is wrong.

What this means:

  • We put customers at the heart of the work we do.
  • We actively seek out opportunities to bring customer-sourced information into our decision-making process.
  • We value integrity, hold ourselves accountable and own our mistakes.
  • We have respect for our customers, their needs, and their time.
  • We are committed to providing great value with our products and services.

We Are Working To Live ( #worktolive )

We empower each other to make good choices for ourselves, our families, and the company, in that order. We care about what we create together, not how early we can be at our desks. If we put work before our kids' birthday parties, we're doing it wrong. We take the health and mental health of our colleagues seriously.

What this means:

  • We support modern working practices - we are fully remote, have family-friendly flexible working hours and flexible holidays.
  • If someone takes time away from work and the company or a customer has a problem as a result, the root issue is the company and not the person taking the time off.
  • We expect people to put themselves first and to know when they need time to rest, recharge or otherwise get away from their desk.
  • We provide access, as standard, to independent mental health resources, including therapy sessions and EAP resources.
  • We encourage disclosure and have a qualified mental health first-aider as a source of support.
  • We have a minimum holiday entitlement and encourage people to take time when they haven't.

We Are Socially Positive ( #sociallypositive )

We aim to leave the world a better place than we found it, both environmentally and culturally. That means that we take the time to be aware of our impact, and the things we can do to minimise or offset the negative impacts we have on the world and each other.

What this means:

  • We minimise our environmental impact and are continually looking for ways in which we can improve this.
  • We are carbon-negative, offsetting more carbon than we use.
  • We respect each other's cultures, religions and practices.
  • We are inclusive, and try to ensure everybody has the opportunity to contribute whenever they feel they have something to contribute.
  • We have the opportunity to direct a proportion of our values budget into directly supporting socially positive causes.
  • We set aside 5 working days per year per person for volunteer work on company time.

We Are Continually Improving ( #improvement )

Continuous improvement is a core part of a lean system of development and something we apply company-wide. We try not to let perfect be the enemy of good, and consider something a success if it is an improvement, even if there is still work to be done. We don't create something and then declare it completed, we give ourselves the time and opportunity to revisit earlier work, from evergreen website content to product development to third party services.

We look to improve ourselves as well, take advantage of opportunities to increase domain knowledge in the business and make use of training and courses outside of it. We are passionate about education and learning, both for ourselves and for our customers.

What this means:

  • We all have access to a no-questions annual training budget, as well as opportunities to take on training above that budget.
  • We try to make sure we "never half-ass two things, whole-ass one thing" (as a very wise man once said).
  • We iterate over and evaluate changes progressively rather than trying to second guess the success of our work.
  • We prefer to answer questions with testing and data rather than hunches.
